Habba Khatoon Library
Library at Govt. Degree college for Women was established in parallel with the establishment of the college in the year 1961.The total collection of the College Library till date is 58,815 which includes text Books, Reference books, Carrier Counseling books in varied subjects. The College Library is fully automated and RFID tagged (Radio Frequency Identification System) .The College Library has 14 Departmental Libraries. The Library caters the needs of the large number of community consisting of Students, Faculty members, PG Students in various disciplines.

To provide a Student-Centered learning environment by facilitating access to comprehensive resources and services in support of the academic community’s research, teaching, and learning needs.

Provide quality information resources and quality services to stimulate creativity, intellectual curiosity and lifelong learning.

LIBRARY SERVICES
GENERAL SECTION: - The College has a General Section with sufficient seating capacity of 50 students. The General section is having a good collection of books in all disciplines.
REFERENCE SECTION: - The Reference Section of the College Library contains information –dense resources, such as Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Atlases and Reference handbooks.
READING ROOM: - The Reading Room of the College Library is kept for the self-study for all the students. Reading room is provided with high quality educational books. This section offers a space for students to work and study, in groups or individually.
LANGUAGE SECTION: - The Language Section of College Library comprises the collection of all languages viz Urdu, English, Hindi, Persian, Sanskrit, Arabic.
PG SECTION: - This section has a good collection of books which caters the needs of the PG STUDENTS viz MSc Chemistry, MBA, MCOM.
Commerce Section: - The College Library has a separate section for BBA, BCOM students.
BROWSING SECTION: - The College Library is having a well-established Browsing Section comprising of 14 computer systems with the latest configuration and with Wi-Fi Internet Facility. Students and faculty members access their part of the various online materials and courses like Udemy, Swayam-NPTEL ETC through the browsing center during their leisure time.
BOOK BANK:-College Library maintains a Book Bank mainly of undergraduate level text books to help students belonging to economically and socially weaker sections of the society. Students can borrow up to 5 books from this collection for a period of one semester. The Library issues a circular in the beginning of every semester and eligible students may apply to avail the benefit as per the schedule announced by therein.
REPROGRAPHY:-
The College Library facilitates the campus with a Reprographic center in the library with printer, scanner and a Photostat machine .The students and faculty are not required to go outside the campus for these facilities and thus it cares of large scale operations and ensures their needs as and when required.
Automation Activities:-Computer servers and workstations are installed in the College Library for modernizing and automation of the Library operations and services. The Library Resources materials have been computerized by using SOUL 3.0 software .The SOUL software is integrated library management software used for library operations.
Barcoding of Membership Identity Cards: - The Students, Faculty, Teaching as well as non-teaching staff of the college is issued a single barcoded membership cum library identity cards for borrowing books.
Check in /Check out:-Before entering/leaving the college library every user has to go through the process of check in / check out .
Online public access catalogue (OPAC):-The computerized bibliographic details of the books are available in the library through the OPAC (Online public access catalogue) service. The users can search the database in different ways, viz;

Ø Classified etc.
In-House/Remote Access to e-Resources:
NLIST (National Library and information service infrastructure for scholarly content):-The College Library is registered with the NLIST (National Library and information service infrastructure for scholarly content) –Programme of the INFLIBNET and with this service users are able to access e-resources (6000 +journals, 1, 99,500+e-books and 6, 00,000 e-books through NDL)
Benefits of the N-list program include access to:-

3. Access to 6,00,000 e-books and other reading material through NDL (National digital library of India)
4. Helps in teaching, Learning and Research process.
ONOS (One Nation One Subscription):-ONOS provides access to 13,000+ peer reviewed full-text journals from 30 publishers spanning diverse disciplines such as Science, engineering, medicine, social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences.
New Arrival Display Service:-The college library displays new arrivals on the digital board as and when new books are procured to the library.
Property Counter: - The college library offers the service of property counter to its users.
Newspaper and Magazines:-There is a regular subscription to leading newspapers and magazines thereby augmenting the Library as a rich source of knowledge.

LIBRARY ACTIVITIES
User Awareness Programme: -
The Library takes an active part in the orientation programme organized by the institute for the benefit of new students in the beginning of academic year. They are taken around the Library to familiarize them with various resources and services available for them.
Any user desiring to know more about Library resources and service or to learn how to use a particular resource like OPAC, e-Journals, Databases etc. should contact to the Librarian.
Training workshops:-
Ø Library Conducts Training Workshops (Hands on Practice) on OPAC (online public access catalogue) Using OPAC features, Check –in /Check-out Procedures, Self-issue / Return, N-LIST Programmes.
Ø Library conducts training program on ONOS (One Nation One Subscription) Hands on Practice
Seminars:-
Library frequently hosts seminars and events to celebrate World Book Day and other significant dates in the Library calendar. These seminars aim to promote reading literacy and cultural awareness.
Best User Library Awards Library presents best user awards yearly to inculcate a culture of appreciation for active engagement with the Library resources and services among students and faculty. These Awards serve several purposes like recognition and motivation, Community building, promotion of lifelong learning awareness of library services and professional development

The College Library organises tours to visit different Libraries viz; Public, Academic and Special Libraries

Rules and Regulations of College Library
§ All students, faculty, and employees of the Institute are entitled to the membership of the Library.
§ Users must carry their Library Membership card while using the library. They must show their ID card on demand. Library I-Card is non-transferable.
§ The loss of an Identity Card should be reported to the Circulation Counter of the Library. Borrowers shall be responsible for any loss or issue of their original/duplicate card.
§ The readers are requested to keep their personal belongings at the entrance of the library. No valuable items, e.g., Laptop, mobile, money, ATM Cards, etc. should be kept inside the bags. If kept, the Library will not be responsible for any such loss.
§ Bags, handbags are strictly prohibited in the library.
§ The Library shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to the personal belongings of the users.
Circulation Guidelines
The rules are framed to facilitate and promote, rather than to constrain, the use of Library’s collection and services.
· Institute Identity Card is must for issue & return of reading materials.
· Books issued out from the library are to be returned on or before the due date without any further delay at the Circulation Desk during its working hours.
· The user shall be responsible for any damage caused by him/her to the books or any other property belonging to the library.. Fine rules are framed, which are currently effective for the overdue books.
· Reference books, Newspapers and Magazines/Journals should not be taken out of the library.
· Any kind of damage of library materials (marking, underlying, and clipping of books) is absolutely forbidden. Readers shall be held responsible for any damage done to the book belonging to the library and shall be required to replace it or pay the value + 20% +barcode/RFID tags thereof.
· The borrowers are requested to check the books & other reading materials thoroughly for missing pages, chapters, any damages, markings etc. before borrowing.
· Books or any other issuable item in damaged conditions may not be accepted from the borrower. Mutilated or spoiled books may have to be replaced by the borrower.
· The borrower will be responsible for any loss or non-return of any books issued against his/her identity card.
· Silence must be strictly observed both by the users in the reading and reference zones of the library.
· Users are not permitted to consume food or drink and spiting in the Library. It is strictly prohibited
· No one shall reserve a working place in the Library by leaving Library material or personal property on a reading table.
· Every user must return the books/journals in its original place after its use has been served.
· The library is not responsible for any loss of any personal property brought into the library.
